A peace lily is a beautiful flowering plant that represent peace, tranquility, hope, and healing. It's often given to offer empathy and hope for new beginnings and can be used to balance energy, reduce tension, and enhance positive energy. I've chosen this as the name of my business because of the natural beauty, symbolism, and personal connection I feel to this beautiful plant.
I work to help adults navigate and process the complex issues in life, especially when these stressors are related to healthcare and major life transitions. This includes new medical diagnoses, chronic illness, grief processing, quarter- and mid-life transitions, caregiver burnout, healthcare trauma, stress working as a medical provider, pursuing gender-affirming care, health anxiety, aging, changes in family/household, and more. These concerns always impact other aspects of your life and I'm able to help you work through many major life stressors.
We all deserve to have fulfillment and joy at every stage of our lives and I am passionate about working with you to find and achieve what happiness means for you. Everyone's struggle is different and my goal is to help you work through the things that are holding you back from joy. Illness, changes in ability, and loss of function can seriously impact our daily lives and sense of self. I can offer space to process these changes, navigate the emotional impact, and identify your values and priorities moving forward.
I have experience supporting the family members, loved ones, and caregivers and understand how relationship dynamics, expectations, and daily life change when a loved one needs care. I can help process the immense grief that is felt when a loved one is nearing the end of their life or has passed away. I also support medical providers who have been impacted by the difficulty and unpredictability of providing care during a global pandemic. The past several years have created additional stress, isolation, and uncertainty and I can provide a safe space to process and heal.
My background is in medical social work and I am intimately familiar with the healthcare system, through both professional and personal interactions. The US healthcare system is a complex and daunting system that most of us must interact with for our work, our own health, and/or our loved ones. There are times that interacting with the medical system can feel oppressive, traumatizing, uncaring, and dismissive. I believe it is worthwhile to explore your experience with the healthcare system and to work through the complex effects it can have on our physical and mental health.
I take a person-focused, non-judgmental, collaborative approach to therapy. There is value in how each person’s unique life experiences have contributed to where they are today and where they will go next. I believe you are the expert in your experience and together we can find the best way forward towards healing.
I am a LGBTQIA+ affirming, body-positive, ability-inclusive, anti-racist, feminist provider. I enjoy helping to unpack the impact of our society on your well-being and sense of self, such as social injustices, generational trauma, and systemic oppression.
